Judging Criteria

Areas of focus include:

  • The degree of relevance to the category description 
  • Creation, creativity, and execution of the story through the use of Shorthand
  • Clear message, purpose, and call to action in the story writing 
  • Evidence of impact the story had on your story purpose

The judging criteria for industry-specific categories are as follows:

SECTION 1:
Introduction [0% weighting] 

Note: You will not be scored on this section

  • Introduce your company: This information may be used in promotional material for the Shorthand Awards (MAX 200 words)

SECTION 2:
About your story [70% weighting]

  • What was the motivation or idea behind your story? (MAX 200 words)
  • What was your story looking to achieve? (MAX 150 words)
  • Link to your story
  • Why are you nominating your story? (MAX 500 words)

SECTION 3:
Impact [30% weighting]

  • Was this story part of a larger campaign? (MAX 200 words)
  • Did you encounter any challenges in launching your story, and how did you overcome these? (MAX 200 words)
  • Did your story achieve what you set out to? Use both qualitative and quantitative results. (MAX 500 words)

The judging criteria for individual storyteller nominations are as follows:

SECTION 1:
Introduction [0% weighting]

  • Introduce your company: This information may be used in promotional material for the Shorthand Awards (MAX 200 words)

SECTION 2:
About the nominee [100% weighting]

  • Description of the contribution, initiative, programme, project or activity the individual is being recognised for (MAX 200 words)
  • How does this outstanding and exceptional achievement or success exceeds normal expectations of performance (MAX 150 words)
  • Level of impact of the contribution, initiative, programme, project or activity in terms of size, reach and significance (MAX 150 words)
